Thanks for posting the photos McBeck, they're terriffic! Wow, everything looks so old. Those guys had balls man! :up:

By the way, in the last couple of shots there are two depth charge shaped things, under the back of the conning tower. What were they for?

Those, I believe, are storage lockers. They were located in various parts around the sail.

I have a copy of Orville Wright's memoirs. In it he talks about the first 1903 flight:

Little O.T.I'm currently reading "IN HARMS WAY" by Doug Stanton,I'ts the story of the sinking and servival of the men of the USS INDIANAPOLIS which was torpedoed and sunk in the south Pacific by a Japanese sub on July30 1945 after completing a highly secret mission.

All I can say is.....WOW......this is a very powerful book!Have any of you read it?

Nice pics, McBeck!

I have been out there a number of times (used to live by the Bay Area). Was up there about 4 months ago to take my wife on the tour. She was really excited about actually getting the opportunity to go on the sub. It's a nice ship. You really get some nice insight regarding the confines the crew had to deal with while on patrol.
