Hi again,mate...I have one suggestion for you:
Uninstall everything (all files, also the SH3 folder in "my documents"), then try to run stock SHIIII. See if the clouds are there. If they are, there is a mod problem. Then add the patch, and see if they are there. Continue that way, to figure out where the bug is. Its the only way to figure this out, matey..

The whole operation should take a little over an hour but the potential rewards are well worth the effort

Done. I used the Bismarck mission as my test.
On vanilla SH3, the clouds worked, to my delight.
Patched to 1.4b, and the clouds are still there.
Next, I installed GWX. No clouds.
Added the Dec.23 patch and it didn't fix my clouds.

So the problem seems to lie in GWX.
I'm going to try re-downloading GWX to make sure no files were corrupted. That will take a while, so if anyone has any ideas in the interim, I'll try anything!

Delete any/all SH3 files from C\MyDocuments
Install a clean version of SH3 in C\Program Files\Ubisoft\SH3
Patch it to 1.4b
Copy the folder and paste it to whatever drive you want.

Rename the folder ‘GWX’.
Now install GWX and run it. (not forgetting the Dec23rd patch-installed via JSGME))

Create a shortcut to the desktop..
Install the SH3Cmd 2.7 plus the SH3Cfg file
If your going to use multiple installs I’d suggest a separate install of SH3Cmdr for each plus an install of MultiSH3.

Good luck

If you do multiple installations for SH3/GWX make sure you read this thread http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/show...e+installation

Tried this... It created a second installation with GWX, in parallel with the unmodded 1.4b it was copied from, as expected. But it didn't change the cloud situation. Installing SH3Cmd etc also had no effect on the missing clouds, though I don't suppose it was intended to.

Only thing now is the graphics card....there's obviously a lot more going on in game in a career especially when your leaving port

I'm pretty sure it isn't that, as my clouds are present in vanilla sh3. It's the same situation in single missions, as in a career.
