Shame it's not modelled. Ah well.
Yep, I'm with Mookie on this one! There I was on patrol #2 at 96m bottomed out. I was pinged to death and then DC'd to death . No dice for hanging on the bottom. I stay were it is REALLY DEEP!
That's exactly how it happened to me. I made a big mistake, attacking this convoy off the northern coast of Scotland. When it comes time to evade, I ping the depth...

"Depth under keel is 50 meters, sir!"

During my evasion maneuvers I planted the boat on the bottom a bit too hard, tearing out the keel and causing major flooding. The DD's just finished me off while I sat helpless at the bottom. It was my 2nd patrol, too. I guess that makes me a full fledged memeber of the club.

Lesson learned: always know how much real estate you have under you before you attack!

It's better to move off and away at 1kt to try to evade. Sitting on the bottom just makes you an easy target.

I'm thinking sitting on the bottom in an IX makes you a bigger target.

And yet another member of the 2nd patrol club.....man, it is starting to look like a gang
