Thanks All, I have some serious catching up to do. Since I am new I am at 34% realism and still struggle. Can you pick up pointers if you play on line at Ubisoft?

Patrol Grid Reached = 1000
24hr Patrol Completed = 1000
Returned to Base = 500

So even if I have a crappy patrol I still get awarded for following orders.

So far I have completed 10 patrols with only 3 having large amounts of tonnage, somewhere between 60000 - 100000 tonnes.(IX player + everything but manual targetting).

2500 for no kills? I don't get that at all. You edited the cfg file didn't you. :hmm:
I've got a total of about 8500 renown in 6-7 patrols while getting 4 or 5 big kills every patrol in my VIIB at 57% realism (now 62).

If I remember correctly you get 200 points of renown for reaching the patrol grid and for spending 24 hours there. But again I'm a Sith Lord so editing Cfg files is what I do to join the dark side

Now those numbers seem a little more accurate, you dark sider you.

Edit: For those who want more renown, skip the small ships, you'll sooner or later come across the big ones which will give you a lot more renown and then you won't be tempted to cheat by editing the cfg. It makes the game more challenging and satisfying that way as well. Plus part of the thrill in playing is doing what you can to get that renown so you can upgrade to bigger and better things. If you take away that challenge then you take away your incentive to be a better captain which will give you little satisfaction in the end, IMHO.

@ Jim - :p

To all, this is purely a way to make renown not so important to the progression of the game. With this approach, I am still able to purchase upgrades/crew at a reasonable rate without being at a disadvantage. With this option I am also not too harshly penalized for having a bad patrol, so far out of 10 patrols I've had 3 successful ones this sounds about right to me, as it is unrealistic to come back with high tonnage on every patrol.

Play the game the way you want.

Yuppers! The investment for upgrades and crew one has to make is what gives meaning to the game. Om my two lousiest patrols: tonnage 0 and 9 K.

The maximum I ever got till now is 9910 renown points (a IXB patrol with about 230.000 tonn sinking), with about 4k-6k on average renown with that boat. I play 100% realism and sink only the big ships.
