Default Try this

Set your rudder for 5 or 10 degrees away from the nearest DD. Keep it there.

When they set up for a DC run, they will move in a straight line to where you used to be. I don't think they can work against a turning target.

I have survived using this method. It might help.

You can also zig zag using the 5 and 10 degree turns off your intended course. Don't turn too often though or it becomes a straight line to them.

Think like a real u-boat commander. Destroyers are both dangerous and a waste of good torpedoes. Attack merchants.

he is detecting my even during turns. i do a left 15°, he corrects his course, i switch to right 15° and he turns right after one or two seconds, even with engines off :hmm:

Don't think you should be safe with engines off. He knows you are still there. He will just depth charge your last known position and you will probably be very close to that point.

Try this [it's not normal procedure tho] ..
I got bashed real bad and ended up with no flak gun and no deck gun and batteries kaput so snucked up to one of the bad guys and surfaced right next to him .. he couldn't blow me out of the water as I was too close to him, then .. the other bad guy started blasting away and blowing up the other bad guy [the British Bernard ended up getting thrown onto our deck but that's another story]. Now, you've got one bad guy left .. did I mention that your periscopes are cream crackered ? Anyway, you stick on his tail and once you've finally managed to get his rear end in your UZO, you fire off an eel then pray then BANG ! Limp Home.

What would you say about Polish word 'fart' meaning 'luck'? We use to say "Ale mam farta!" everytime we want to say to the world, how lucki we are (for example after not being fired for damaging own ship. Bernard is "Bernard" in Polish, you know...).
