Yes, see if your card has a separate gamma/brightness adjustment. Tweek from there.

For me, body position helped tons. My monitor sits on a hutch about 6" off the desk. On top of that I slouch in my chair so I basically lie back in my reclining chair and look up at the screen.
Night was so dark for me that I couldn't even see traffic in the starting harbor. It was very frustrating. So frustrating that I was thinking about removing GWX. After colliding with a tug, I decided its time to adjust gamma or remove the mod. I sat up to start messing with the controls and low and behold I see a ship on the horizon.
I changed my watch standing times. I lie down in the chair during the day (in the captains bed) and sit up in my chair so I'm even with the monitor at night. It's still dark (like it should be), but I've gone from 0 visibility to being able to navigate a harbor and make out shipping/smoke on the horizon now...I'm happy!

Edited note: brightness doesn’t usually help…try moving the gamma up from 1.0 to 1.5.
