yep , its 100's of meters - Just got myself a large tanker with one , missed with the first pass but got it on the Backswing

They're also great for convoys. In big, heavily escorted convoys, I fire a spread of them from a distance. As long as the AoB is about 90 degress, you'll generally score a clean hit (unless they hit something while turning)

Yeah, on the initial run it acts like a normal torpedo and if it does not explode at a certain distance it starts it's ladder running, hopefully within the columns. Quite clever really....
