If you are detected, enemy See-units (Destroyers, Speed-boats, Trawlers) in Range will run highspeed to your area also. You can only break this sittuation by submerge and try to hide you for a while from any enemy sensors.
Keep in mind, Snorkel and Periscope can be detected.

Greetings.
If you're meaning the scope can be detected by radar, then that's a flaw in the game.
That wasn't possible until the 1970s iirc.

"ASV Mk.XI had a maximum range of about 60km against ships, and in good conditions and at low altitude (2000 feet) it could detect a surfaced submarine at about 20km. But it could detect a schnorkel only in very calm seas and at distances below 8km. It gave bearings with an accuracy of about 2 degrees."

Sure, but a schnorkel was a MUCH larger target than a scope head. I have no problem with it being detected in a WW2 sim, but a scope head should not be.

If you want to answer it is!

Silent Hunter 3 manual, page 55:

Radar
Used by both aircraft and escorts, radar can detect a target miles away, muchbeyond your visual range. (...) Advances in technology led to even the snorkel head being detectable towards the end of the war.

Regarding the snorkel, as I said, I have no problem with it being detected. My comments were solely regarding a periscope, by itself.

Regarding GWX and NYGM, both are outstanding mods. I prefer NYGM, both can't go wrong with either.
