It's really not about historical inaccuracies IMO. For example, Red October and Crimson Tide are not historically "accurate" as well, but they are pretty good movies...U-571 is just, I dont know...Dumb...

That's just my opinion of course...

I have always liked "The Bedford Incident". Not entirely a sub film, although one plays a significant part, but an excellent study of the sub hunter psychology during the Cold War.
