I'm sorry but I can't add anything else to the advice quoted at #4

Quote:
Selecting either of these RWR antennas while at the Radar Warning Upgrade screen may result in the destruction of all RWR equipment aboard your U-boat on your next mission. The new RWR schnorchel antennas will appear on the U-boat upgrade screen at the aforementioned dates, but do not select them. You must follow a special procedure to allow GWX to perform the upgrades automatically since the system of using renown points to purchase equipment does not work for devices that were not included in stock Silent Hunter III.

A. FuMB-3 Bali: You must perform the following steps after the upgrade screen shows it is available for installation on a Type VII U-boat, Type IX U-boat, or their variants (see Figure 66).

Step 1: Exit the game while in base before a mission.
Step 2: Enable / install the GWX modification ―Late War Sensors Snorkel Antennas‖ located in the ―SH3/Mods‖ subfolder. The GWX team recommends using the JSGME tool - provided with GWX - for easy installation of this feature. Please read the JSGME documentation for instructions on enabling and disabling software modifications. Step 3: Reload the game and continue your career from the same point you exited in Step 1 by selecting the last saved entry, ―In base before mission‖

B. FuMB-37 Leros: GWX installs this automatically, so no player action is required.
I don't have a GWX installation on my system atm to even attempt to replicate the problem.

Is it possible you have an additional third party mod that is causing some kind of conflict?

The mods listed were the only active ones. I was mainly hoping something in the list would stick out for you that could be the culprit.

I've removed some of the environmental and flavour mods, but it still seems to happen. I doubt it's something inherently flawed in GWX. It's without a doubt the greatest modification of any game that's been published. (Close second would be DSfix for Dark Souls.) Most likely I've done something wrong.

The only real thing I'd want to work is the RWR, to drop snorkel and dive, but it's not an utter disaster. I will make a clean install with just stock GWX and see if that makes any difference. If it does, I will post my findings.

I see Open Hatch installed twice and no Late War sensors.

Thanks Jeff I never noticed the Open Hatch Mod and obviously the Late War Sensors was advised in #4 and quoted again in #11

Some feedback.

Decided to only leave stock GWX 3 Gold. The radar still gets destroyed. Enabled late war sensors, start a new campaign, it still gets destroyed. I tested using the single XXI mission, it still gets destroyed. Then it got worse.

I figured it will be best to start from a clean slate. Disable all mods, removed JSGME, and the mods folder. Uninstalled SH3cmdr and it's GWX files. Reinstalled SH3 from steam, as I did last time, then GWX 3.

Unfortunately GWX refuses to install. It complains about either SH3 not being updated to 1.4, which it is, or there being mods present which is impossible. I trashed all remnants of the previous installation and cleared any traces from the registry.

I am not sure whether the pre installation check's error report to the client distinguishes between different problems. E.g. I point the installer to the correct directory for SH3, then receive that mods are detected. Then I change it to a blank directory, and the error still claims mods are present. Thus, I am confused about the criteria that it needs to be happy with before starting the installation.

I will start a new thread if I can't get past this issue tonight.

I would double check the install path for GWX.
If it's not pointed at the EXACT path it will throw that error message.
Even with a squeaky clean install.

Finally got GWX 3 installed again. Very relieved.

I would just like to get some clarity regarding the late war sensors mod. The manual states, paraphrasing, in 2 points that:

A. You should enable the mod for Type VII and Type IX boats, then not touch the sensors during outfitting.

B. If it's the type XXI everything is done automatically.

What I need clarity on is this; should you only enable the mod if you are driving a Type VII or IX? Or must you enable it if you are in the Type XXI too?
