Let`s Play Silent Hunter 5 with full realism. (Season 2)

Hi guys

Whenever I try to load a previous save, my game crash to desktop with the infamous " game stopped responding".

This is a Game Launcher problem in the Program (x86) folder and will not affect any of your saved games etc.

It easy to put right and can be a common problem.

All you need to do is run the Game Launcher application as administrator and the game loads.

I have 73 manual saves with TWOS to the 30th October and have had no problems with this mod.



There is no guarantee that the windows error fault will not occur again but as explained the fix is easy and works every time.

I have also notice that this windows problem occurs every time I do a re-install.
This has only occurred since Ubisoft passed it over to Uplay.

I do get a lot of this windows error problem with LSH3-2015 crashing to the desk top before it loads to the menu.

Again this is easily rectified by running SH3Commander each time it happens as administrator and then the game loads every time.

When I start over I will ofcourse lose all my progress, everything I`ve done in this playthrough, right?
That is something I don`t want to see happen, I don`t want to keep starting over all the time. That way there is no continuation to the series, and it will throw the people watching the series of..

If this is not possible, I can allways do the Happy Times as a bonus campaign when the war is over.
(Notise how I said when the war ends, and not when I die)

I allways run everything as "administrator"

OK I understand, but I really can not be sure will your WoS 1.03 gamesaves be compatible with 1.04+patch 11, they should IMO but again , who knows...

Anyway, your videos are awesome no matter what you play...

Oh, snap!
Right now I am using 1.03 patch 5 + hotfix 5.
I am recording next episode now and will make it to Kiel tonight, if I get through Straight of Dover..
I am going to try to update the mod pack, if all fails, I can just go back to the current version.


Did anyone reading this do the update from 1.03 to 1.04 without restarting the campaign?

Hi Shaefer

Your game can be installed anywhere you want to put it through using the custom installation.

The default Ubisoft Game Launcher (UGL) that comes with this installation will always install to the Program (x86) folder.

This can be changed when you delete the UGL and re-install from here.

This genuine UGL can be installed anywhere you want to put it IIRC.

Your latest Video shows 2 but should be 22.

You need to click on the sub system panels to show the English translation as in the picture.
Here you can see the translation telling you that you are looking at the observation periscope.


When you said "mountains" I think this a fog bank.
I have noticed that fog is shown as a thickness of depth on the horizon.
Light fog would be a narrow band and becomes deeper as the fog gets more dense.
Heavy fog I would expect to be around 800 to 1000 metres from the bridge.
More restricted when viewing through the periscope.
The moon,stars and heavy precipitations in heavy fog makes no sense at all and would not be possible.
Others may have a different view on this as I am not a meteorologist but using logic.

I have noticed with real navigation that long gaming sessions seems to add some corruptions to the plotting when game saves are not made.
For example the plot shows you have a coast line on the right but from the bridge you can see that it is on the left.
When you save and load the game again the plot has now moved to the left exactly as you saw it.
I have actually beached my boat before now because of this navigation error.

The reason why you cannot use the binoculars when at decks awash (DA) is to stop you cheating and using (DA) too frequently when in reality you should be traveling fully surfaced.

By the way you are in Wilhelmshaven not Kiel.

Remember....no hovering at periscope depth and zero speed. you attack plotting will be more complex but you can handle it.

The penalty for running D.A. Should be slightly slower speed so you use more fuel. Is this not in the game? I thought it was.

I have not noticed any speed penalty, not sure about fuel though.

Note that not all the changes will become available until you pass to the next campaign...

I know that you play SH5 with Wolves of Steel. However, I don´t (yet) .

Can you tell me which mod should I install to get that cool SH3-like damage display?
