Strobing lights on the pistol.
Good one. Strobing lights confuse the person on the other end and still provide an illumination for the officer.

First class appropriate response.

Indeed a very useful tool at close range of course from a distance perhaps a disadvantage. I assume it was activated by a pressure switch. That one was white but I believe they also make green as well.

Didn't follow the story further, but that could be a suicide-by-cop situation.
AFAIK, he caused trouble in that restaurants restroom, maybe to provoke a police response, and then drew his BB gun to, maybe, provoke deadly force.
I have no other explanation that would make 'sense'.

Good reaction of both officers though.

Good work by the cops there, this shows how much good body cams can do in highlighting when police do their job right. I noted that the male office moved a knife out of the way ahead of the suspect whilst they were exiting the restaurant.
If I had to guess I'd say that the suspect was either drunk or more likely had mental issues, he did not seem under duress when confronted by the officers, and was calm and collected to the moment he pulled out the gun.

I don't get it.
Police arrests a man, ok he follows. Smiling? Can't really see that, but even when ..
Then leaving the flat, the female officer abruptly turns at him as if boxing him, when he turns and runs away.
Then the shots. Huh?

edit: saw the second vid, he pulled a weapon, very dumb. it seems he did not take the situation seriously. Drunk? Drugs?

They hadn't yet arrested him they had made contact and advised him that he was a person of interest. Until they give him Miranda rights he is not under arrest. In the US it is legal to temporarily detain a person while the situation is ascertained that person can then be arrested or released.

What they where in the process of doing was getting him outside of the resteraunt where they would either have detained or immediately effected an arrest. It of course did not get to that point.

I think that this mans intent was to be killed by the police. He had stolen from a nearby store and then went into the restaurant. I think he may have planned to commit the minor crime to get the police there to him then pull the BB gun as he did so that he'd get shot.

He could have drawn the gun at the location he stole from but didn't. I think he planned it that way so that his drawing of the gun would be a surprise and get the reaction that of course occur. He wanted to insure that deadly force was the only recourse.

I agree, this looks like the guy planned it. I couldn't make out any orange cap on the BB gun, so it was modified in advance. Like Stealhead said, the folded hands also look planned, to suggest calmness and being no threat, hoping the cops would let their guard down. Glad the guy was "rational" enough to draw outside and not 20 seconds earlier in the seating area.

The tapping of his hands was odd as well like he was thinking "am I ready to do this" they may have picked up on his body language as youll notice the officer flicks the steak knife out of reach on the table. Clapping of hands can be a sign of preperation but he didnt do that. His hat on the back says death as well can't make out what else it says wonder if he planned that or not.

Its a bit strange as your seeing the last few minutes of this mans life and it seems pretty clear that he planned to die.
