I'm a fan of Abed, from Community. He is just so out there and eccentric (but also awkward and withdrawn) in a way that many people, myself included, can relate to.

Me too, except for me it was the "my ship comes first" no nonsense attitude he gave off when dealing with aliens.

No particular reason. I can relate to them and feel my life would improve if I adopted a bit of their personalities. Red and Ron are a bit off but so am I.
Seconded on Ron Swanson, quite a character.

Me and Abed have a pact, if one of us dies, the other will stage the scene so it appears to be a suicide because of the cancellation of Firefly.

Which leads me to...

I third Ron Swanson. Amazing character. Even bought Nick Offerman's book, Paddle Your Own Canoe

Michael Scott - The Office
Almost every character in Breaking Bad except for Skyler and Gus
Larry David - Curb Your Enthusiasm (Larry David plays Larry David...so it counts)

Definitely Mal for my favorite TV character.

On second though.. maybe Inara (Yes that is me, shamefully dressed in Mal costume to meet Morena Baccarin.)

Default Captain George Mainwaring

"I must ask you to keep your hands off my privates!"

Just where do you start with Mainwaring? Pompous, yet superbly vulnerable and prickly in the presence of the aristocratic Sergeant Wilson.

Default Manuel

"Qué?"

Downtrodden and abused, he can hit back only by naming his pet rat after his boss. He's from Barcelona...

Earl Hickey - My Name is Earl

I liked the fact he never gave up, despite the difficulties that landed in his path. That, and his relationship with his brother Randy.

Oh, wow, Red Foxx. I have a great memory of Red. He used to have a number of businesses here in Los Angeles and, specially, here in Hollywood. He even had his own office building, done up in a red façade. I once worked at a rock club on Sunset Blvd., in the mid-70s. Red had set up a hair and beauty salon in a store front adjoining the club. It was a habit of the club's employees and some of the regulars to show up at the club during the daytime hours to just hang out and play records before the official nighttime opening of the club. One summer day, we were in the club, with the door closed and locked, blasting away with our records. There was a loud knock at the door and the owner went to see who it was. He opened the door and there was Red Foxx, big as life and every inch Fed Sanford. He said he didn't mind us playing music as long as we kept it down a bit, since some of his salon customers were complaining about the volume. The owner said he would take care of it right away and Red walked away back to his salon...

We all talked about it afterwards and concluded that if we hadn't turned down the volume, Red probably had the 'big one' and he'd be 'coming home to Elizabeth'...
