The reason the shooters feel like moving down a corridor is because a corridor is exactly what such a game looks like if you look at it in a level editior. The reason for this is the very heavy scripting required for that 'cinematic experience'.

I've never really cared for that in a video game. If I want a cinematic experience, I will watch a movie.
It is cool when the game is scripted to make it have those movie events, but it is even more satisfactory (for me) when the cool movie events happen by chance, as I am playing through the game my way. But, that's just my opinion. |
