what would you like to play?

Hi all! Just want to know what you would like to play. I can't do a poll, so please post your choice(s) and I'll compile manually.

how many here would luv to play:

1) a new sub sim (submarine simulator). Better, more sophisticated, with modern subs.

2) a new RTS (real-time strategy). Realistic models and tactics.

3) crew based (many in the same vessel, multiplayer, operator/position based).

Sorry for the loose definition on '3)' but I have not seen anything like this. It's a game where many players can occupy positions onboard 1 vessel offering a sophisticated gaming experience.

4) a FPS (First Person Shooter). You choose you fav gun and you go around shooting things.

Just curious :ping: Cheers!

Thank you Aktungbby! :salute:

Not exactly new here, I had about 30 posts with another account that could not remember the nick and password.

On a side note, I find the lack of new games catering to you all(including me) appalling. Says alot about the present state of the gaming industry.

There are number of games that can be modded for the realism crowd.

For RTS, you got CC: Gateway to Caen. Much has been balanced for gameplay, but it's easily moddable.

FPS: Modded ArmA 3

And welcome back Skytracker.

While I would actually like to see number 3 with WW2 surface ships, I would more so like to see a sort of combination between an RTS and an FPS.

What I really want is a new Hidden and Dangerous game: the kind of shooter where you get an objective and have to create a strategy to complete it. I like being able to choose everything, from the weapons my team uses, down to the uniforms. And open maps are key.

My biggest pet peeve with shooter games is when it feels like you are running down a corridor. I've been playing Sniper Elite v2 lately, and the biggest thing that annoys me with it is things like barriers that prevent you from going any place except the path the game wants you to take, and some of the barriers are kinda weird (one example is a road-block waist high that you can't vault, or another was a fallen wall, which only came up to my ankles, which you could not tread on at all :/\\!! ). You also can't climb on anything unless it is specifically part of the path the game wants you to go down (keeping in mind, Hidden and Dangerous 2 came out about 9 years earlier, and lets you climb on almost anything you can reach).

EDIT: lol, I typed "road-block" as one word, but the forum censored "ad-block" :hmmm:

Yeah I'd love to see a new Hidden and Dangerous game ( the only level I hated in that game was the mission with trying to steal the Enigma machine). I've played both Sniper Elite V2 and 3, and I must say that Sniper Elite 3 is much more open then V2, there are some missions that are like levels from V2 but there are plenty of open maps with different ways to get to the objective along with more then just one objective too. The thing I liked the most about Hidden and Dangerous was that it was a combination of RTS,FPS and TPS all in one not many games are like that. I'd also like to see another game along the lines of "The Saboteur", a third person shooter made by EA Games but with a large open world that included Paris and the surrounding countryside with many different things to do.

The reason the shooters feel like moving down a corridor is because a corridor is exactly what such a game looks like if you look at it in a level editior. The reason for this is the very heavy scripting required for that 'cinematic experience'.

jacobston 04-25-15 03:36 PM

I've never really cared for that in a video game. If I want a cinematic experience, I will watch a movie.

It is cool when the game is scripted to make it have those movie events, but it is even more satisfactory (for me) when the cool movie events happen by chance, as I am playing through the game my way.

But, that's just my opinion.

Thanks Dowly =] Nice to see familiar 'faces'.

Guys could you please vote?

I cannot be too specific at the moment, but the choices you make now may lead to something great. Sorry for the vagueness of it all, I don't want to skew the poll.

Multiple choices is fine :D

I'd just like to see a WW2 subsim done right.

Yes, but with US subs in WWII. In other words, like SH4, but done right.

I have limited experience with these. Played the original Command Ops. Like the concept, but it has to be done right.

3) crew based (many in the same vessel, multiplayer, operator/position based).
Not really interested in this. I don't see MP games as practical.

I played Call of Duty, and that kind of put me off these. It could have been made somewhat realistic and sensible, but seemed to be devoted to cheap graphical thrills, and nothing else.

Alongside Hidden & Dangerous and The Saboteur, I always wish to include Death To Spies 1 & 2, another "open world" shooter which, like the other two, allows you to decide how to go about achieving your objective: either sneakily and silently, or shoot/blow up every enemy in sight.

Platapus 06-03-15 06:25 PM

I tried the first "Death to spies" crikey that was a tough and unforgiving game. Was the second one a little more playable?

Eichhörnchen 06-04-15 01:21 AM

DTS2 ("Moment Of Truth") has the same 3rd-person setup (I prefer 1st%

Eichhörnchen 06-04-15 06:02 AM

Another great "open world" type game is S.T.A.L.K.E.R. (three games in all: Shadow Of Chernobyl, Clear Sky and Call Of Pripyat).

And one final suggestion:

http://i.imgur.com/YdfOy3z.jpg "Boiling Point"

I featured this screenshot in my quiz in General Topics ("Where Am I?"... no-one guessed it) and the game, a FPS, allows for earning money doing different things (including driving buses and taxis) so as to buy weapons and equipment. How you treat other characters and parties in the "story" affects how they react to you later, so a bit like STALKER.
