Whatever the circumstances, loss of life is always tragic.

There is also a strange thing that american tyres will always screech, howl and squeal when driving around a corner, especially when the cars is faster than 2 mph, the street is wet, or it all takes place on sandy ground or rock. From a physicist's point of view i think the atmosphere in the US is somehow more prone to burn or explode, may also explain the squeal of tyres, or better the transport of certain wavelenths, through the fuel-saturated air. I rest my case. |

Nah it is all Hollywood.Still though if you are going fast enough and wrap yourself around a solid object in any part of the world in real life the vehicle has a chance catch fire but not explode. The reason the car looks like it blew up is because in the time it took a first responder to get there the car had already been consumed by the flames.Who knows how long after the accident a call was put in the car my have already been on fire.It would not take long to engulf a car that size. |

No, the real original. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0046969/?ref_=nv_sr_3 On the other hand it looks pretty stupid too. For movies? They put explosives under the gas tank. Real life? You have to rupture the tank badly enough to spread the contents all over the place. Gasoline is actually fairly hard to convince to burn in anything but open air.

Ya just had to step on my favorite peeve that I like to pet.
![]() Actually, this is the very definition of "coincidence". Two separate events, happening independently that have a commonality. The fact that the actor stared in car movies did not cause the accident (especially when the actor was not driving). No causality, no irony. Irony and coincidence are not the same. ![]() Hey, it is my peeve and I will pet it when ever I want to. ![]() I have a car accident; that's happenstance A racing car driver has a car accident; that's a coincidence A driving instructor, teaching safe driving techniques, has a car accident; that's irony. ![]()
