A rule of thumb that I use:
Never shoot at anything I cannot see or identify. ...that said, Greyrider, has a nifty "sound" trainer where you count the revs to obtain speed, and once that's ascertained you can perform the math asin = ((target speed/torpedo speed) x sin(AOB)) to determine the angle of lead, aka, Offset Angle of Collisioin. ...but, if you're talking about up-the-kilt or down-the-throat shots, I've only had success with Mz-Pi (magnetic) fuses set 1m below.
