I dressed up as the other guys. Always loved the uniforms of that era, not exactly well camouflaged but we sorted that in the Boer war.

Ahh, loved that film.

There seriously needs to be more 1800s war movies. There is just something romantic about lining up in brightly colored uniforms, than blasting each others' brains out.

Have you watched 'Waterloo' with Rod Steiger? He plays one of the best Napoleons I have seen, and the work that went into making the film, well, it's pretty impressive.

Yes, definitely a classic but in some ways I find Zulu Dawn to be even better.

There is a small boardgame publishing company based solely in the USA that has produced some great little games and one of my favorites is a solo game about the battle for Rorkes Drift:

It came out in 2009 but due to the success of this little company, a 2nd edition has now been released. Great to see considering the state of the economy.

Zulu is certainly up there, my favourite lines are -

"Fire at will!"
"Oh, thank you very much!"

Bloody marvellous film and a true story.

Zulu and Zulu Dawn...two tremendous films.

I've got them both on DVD plus an original Zulu disc unedited...the one with the Land Rover on view when the Zulus make their first mass appearance up on the hill

Which version? There have been seven. The 1939 version is the best as far as I'm concerned.

I would agree. It is a good story and 2002 version was enjoyable. But the 1939 one was the one I liked.

I have not seen the 1929 version but would love to. I understand there are some silent versions too. I don't know if they are in existence any more.

I've seen them all IIRC and the last one (2002) was the one I enjoyed the most.

A guy I used to work with left the mob to be a military advisor on the 2002 one. Can't see his name in the credits for crew though.
