Zulu - Movie
Do yourselves a favour and if you haven't already, get yourself a copy of Zulu.
Great cast, great camera work, still holds up very well considering the production date. Quote:

I've already watched it several times. Very good movie. I always liked Michael Caine and this was one of his finer performances.:yep:

Very good movie :yep:
I remember dressing up as a Zulu when I was younger... |

I dressed up as the other guys. :O: Always loved the uniforms of that era, not exactly well camouflaged but we sorted that in the Boer war. |
Its also got as good a version of Men of Harlech as you'll hear outside Cardiff Arms Park.

Ahh, loved that film.
There seriously needs to be more 1800s war movies. There is just something romantic about lining up in brightly colored uniforms, than blasting each others' brains out. |

Have you watched 'Waterloo' with Rod Steiger? He plays one of the best Napoleons I have seen, and the work that went into making the film, well, it's pretty impressive. :yep: |
Yes, definitely a classic but in some ways I find Zulu Dawn to be even better.
There is a small boardgame publishing company based solely in the USA that has produced some great little games and one of my favorites is a solo game about the battle for Rorkes Drift: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z2xkLl3wC6k It came out in 2009 but due to the success of this little company, a 2nd edition has now been released. Great to see considering the state of the economy. |
Zulu is certainly up there, my favourite lines are -
"Fire at will!" "Oh, thank you very much!" |
Bloody marvellous film and a true story.

Zulu is a good film but full of errors, Zulu Dawn is a much better film and filmed at the very location of the first big battle where we Brits got are arses well and truly kicked.

BTW, has anyone seen The Four Feathers? Is it good? |
Zulu and Zulu Dawn...two tremendous films.
I've got them both on DVD plus an original Zulu disc unedited...the one with the Land Rover on view when the Zulus make their first mass appearance up on the hill :) |
You can watch Waterloo for free in it's entirety here:
