I just wish someone could do this for me, then upload it so that everything is JSGME ready. I would prefer the SH3 style interface with the three dials and Officer bar. Regarding the rest of the TDWs New Uls mods included in the main folder which also are related to this mod, I haven't a clue also. of how to set them up. Maybe I should give up and go back to playing SH3 or Snakes & Ladders. ![]() ![]()

I certainly didn't want to imply otherwise. Just answering his question as to whether or not the GWX crew was going to do a massive .exe style GWX type mod My thought on it: Doubtful

Hi guys.
Earlier this week I finally had the courage, time and minimal knowledge to collect Sober's modsoup list and put them in JSGME (although not entirely all of them) as I have owned SH5 for about a year and have never really taken to it for most of the reasons that others have found. I thoroughly enjoy the SH5 'Let's Play' videos, stoianm1's tutorials and his 'Das Boot Movie' on YouTube and wish I could play like that. Anyway, over the past few days I have given SH5 a go, and although it looks gorgeous and there are many elements within the game I wish SH3 had, I can't seem to gel with it. It's like SH5 is that beautiful blonde (or brunette/red head - whatever floats your boat) you see walking by and wish she was your partner, but when you finally get the dinner date you find that there really isn't the substance you were hoping. There's no desire to take her out on that second date. For me SH3 is that girl you will talk to all night and look forward to having that next meeting. That still doesn't mean that I don't want to give the blonde another go but you know deep down that the desire for eye-candy will just fizzle out. So for me SH3 with GWX is almost the perfect marriage, but I can't help wanting that beautiful SH5 ![]() |

Is the HAHD mod available yet? I found the web page for the mod, but it seems that it is still in progress. Did I miss something?

Before I found Subsim, I finished the Story mode without anymods, the whole thing, even with the unrealistically high amounts of cargo that had to be sunk, and I enjoyed every bit of it.
Mods have just added more to a good game. <Is ready for and expects any objections to this response> Should I prepare to be branded an outcast? ![]() |

I think everyone has made truthful comments about this. I for one did mention in my previous post that SH3 and SH4 were still playable (and I do). I think it's true what GoldenRivet said about SH3 being (in one way) easier to immerse himself and make up your own storyline.
The two are quite different in terms of immersion. I cannot say that I don't get bored of asking the chief about his wife, and I rarely do. So, I walk around the ship doing what I think a Kaluen should be doing between contacts. The finer things about SH5 I think have to be felt. With the right mod set, there is no other game in this series that comes close visually. If it were just down to gaming, there are plenty of others that I play for strategy and have hours of fun with that. I am suprised that they were able to even get the idea of this game on the shelfs. If this game came out of ubisoft perfect, we wouldn't have seen it for twenty years. As it stands, taking into account the number of data files (including what is packed in the exe.file), it's a wonder this game even came out. The idea was tremendous! How in heck did they expect to actually step up from SH3 and 4 to a boat that you could walk around (the whole boat this time) with full animation, talk to your crew vitually, have the big world map with all the cities and bases, then make sure all the stars are in the right place, that theTDC didn't send the torpedoes to the north pole...well, I'll stop there. The sub is a little more complex (I think anyway) than a plane as well. I have played a few flight sims and they are indeed very real, or can be. I didn't ever expect SH5 to be as good as it is though, (modded). And, the game is still growing thanks to the modders. Anyway, it'll be quite awhile till I get bored of this one, thanks to Trev, TDW, Sober just to name a few (there are so many).... Rock on, Gute Jagd Good Discussion! D40

I, as well as many of you, agree with that most of the problem is in the story line. Waking up as an 1WO and then at port being promoted on the dock as well as getting your own Typ VII-submarine on the foot is just as immersion killing as anything can get. Well known of the history of german submarine-commanders. The knowledge that you have to stick with Typ VII-subs is of course there and does not serve the sense of realism any favours either. And then we have the scripted plot about sinking this and that many tonnage and do this and that because otherwise Ubisoft will punish you. And that is what i realised when standing at the conning tower and looking at the horizon. Ubisoft threw every historical accuracy, or sense of that, out of the window just because they can. It is impossible for me to get any WWII-feeling because of this.

The ultimate game would be an SH5 environment: crew, without their backstory, boats. in an GWX scripted world.

Not even close. First you need SH4's crew management, functions and charts, SH3's flexibility (subset: GWX's world, NYGM's AI, LSH3's and WAC's graphic add-ons), and AOD's gameplay. Add the multi-functionality of SH2 and DC's adversarial multiplay, all mixed into SH5's evironment. Then we might be getting close to a decent subsim. After that start adding other navies' subs and ships to play with.

![]() But, even though i didnt write it, yes of course i would not rule out some of the many excellent mods (while not in an GWX context) who have been made for example SH5, as a contribution to the perfect installment.

After my previous comments on this thread, I decided to go back with SH3, which I find more realistic as far as a proper campaign is concerned. If SH5 had been made exactly the same as SH3 with all it's extra eye candy and improved graphics, then it would have been perfect.
Like ninja turtle stated earlier about having a date with that luscious blonde and then fining out that there is something lacking and you know that you are not going to gel, is exactly how I feel about SH5. A few days ago, I decided to have another go with SH5, but after having been back to SH3 again, there was still not the same enthusiasm that SH3 seems to instil in you (for me that is). I know I really want to enjoy SH5 because the graphics tempt me so much, but somehow there is something lacking in the playability, that you don't seem to get with SH3. Maybe I am like Golden Rivet, for some reason SH5 doesn't feel right for me and I think I will go back again to SH3 for the foreseeable future. Maybe if a more realistic dynamic campaign is built in to SH5, then it would make playing it much much better.
