I have to agree with you. I'm Catholic and have kept up with the news, but in no way would I do that. Like the overwhelming majority of people, I lead my life and patiently wait for news. Yes, he is the new leader of the Church, but is still "s simple human being" no better nor worse than you or me.

Jorge Mario Bergoglio!

If our news media is corect, from Argentina
It seems past Popes were from Europe exclusively. I'm glad to see they thought outside the box and got someone from somewhere else. Nothing against Europe, I feel the past Popes served well. I expect to see some different ideas.

An interesting but not a bad choice, from an up and coming continent, and a humble working class type, however he's a hefty traditionalist and conservative...so don't expect any movement from the church on homosexuality or anything like that.
Don't expect anything on homosexuality or other kind of related issures soon. There is a lot of research behind the decisions, not just one man deciding "what is right."

What makes you the judge of those people? Your thumbs down is nothing but anti-religious fanaticism.

I recall when the last Pope that died, a very funny exchange with a questionable person.
We were doing a job in Rochester, NY.
The Pope at that time was ill and did pass away after a time.
This Guy was a 'Made Guy' not doubts!
He was also Catholic.
The many reports of the health had him running alot at the time.

I recall him comeing back to the bar we would hit after work and saying...
"The SOB is still alive!"
I stated my question as to why it bothered him so much that he wasn't dead yet?

His reply..............

"It wouldn't take me this much time to get it over with!"

Pope Gregory II was from Syria, a long, long, long, long time ago, before the wind, before the snow.

A new one already? My religion teacher said it would take weeks to agree on who it would be.

Tell them they are not 'prophet' material.
