Why do gameplay videos always need to be done by clueless, unsuspecting and uninformed users?
Would love to hear your corrections for the appearantly clueless, unsuspecting and uninformed statements I made so I could correct them in the description/future videos.

No need for any praise just because I recorded it. If he thinks the video was a waste of time, that's alright to say.

@LemonA: Or is it the general "Don't know yet... Could be... Haven't seen yet..." foundation that you didn't like? If so, sorry that the video wasn't what you were looking for. I thought it might be interesting to share what I know after two days (roughly 6-8 hours play time combined) since imho the first few days are crucial when it comes to the question: Will I keep playing this or not? If I don't know some things after these two days, this might give you an idea of how well the game transports information at this point (But they've already announced that they'll redo the ingame tutorials).

I realized that while I emphazise the differences between this and my old SH3 experience (never played SH4 or SH5) I didn't really say if I like the game so far or not.

Personally, I usually was too impatient to leave the harbor from the dock in SH3 so I often skipped that - therefore I don't miss this in SHO.

I like the option to jump to a convoy if I want to get into action quickly while when playing SH3 even with accelerated time I know I'll have to spend a lot of time to see any enemy ships. On the other hand, I don't find it appealing that this way the strategic map isn't much more than a menu to pick your perfectly described mission from. Right now, I miss the uncertainty when approaching a convoy and the random contacts that sailing around gave me. Then again, there were some convoys now where the description said they'd be escorted but they weren't - so maybe there is at least some uncertainty left in the mission descriptions.

Resupplying the boat is a bit tedious the way it works now, hope they'll improve this.

After recording that Singleplayer video I tried playing in a Wolfpack. It seemed a bit unstable at this point (two crashes), but I think that could definitely be fun once I leave these early campaign seas and encounter some better protected convoys.

I must admit after watching the video by Kaleun Cook that i wouldn't enjoy Silent Hunter Online.
I know i know, beta is beta, but, let's face it, once released(in whatever state that will be) it will still be arcadey, simplistic and it seems 'dumbed-down' for certainly the more hard-core sub simmers out there. I don't consider myself 'hard-core' but even so, it looks like a lot of the bells and whistles were cut from this.
Will be interesting to see what makes it live, upon release.I would imagine also they are trying to appeal to a broader range of players with the 'limits' on this game in relation to gfx and whatnot. Older PC's could run it, it seems. Not sure on specs required.
Thanks again Kaleun Cook, i'd be more than happy to watch more of your vids
PS: a little humour was even present (for me anyway) with the attack periscope controls disappearing

SH Arcade

It Appears that SH has become a arcade game were you are just being a mindless kaptain .. it just makes all the modders that have worked so hard to get the experance of full emersion a farce .. I have been a fan ever since sh3 and now using Sh5 modded , whats more difficult than to figure out soulutions of torpedo firng angles and than plotting courses in the virtual atlantic ? To bad that SH has become like this . I am now playing CLiffs of dover and have not been sailing . However I have spent countless hours playing Sh5 Modded , and have gotten so used to war time radio . and the diffculties of being a kaptain .. I suppose that SH is now dead for with this new title ?

Maybe they'll convert this over to a mobile app and get on with SH6, then again.

WoT format, here we go.... kill . die, spawn, rinse and repeat.

Default Beta vs. Alpha

Technically speaking, Alpha is the point at which new features are being added, whereas Beta is when you're just fixing bugs/balancing. So a beta's working gameplay is actually a very good indicator of the final product.

Thanks for recording and uploading the vid KC. Very informative.

I wouldn't be surprised if you just increased the sales of SH lll and lV on DVD, by many tens of thousands.

Default Thanks for the warning.

Well, thanks much for making the effort to post that. As some others have said, this is not for me. The freedom of movment and decision making, the "open-ended" nature of properly designed simulations is what I enjoy most, and obiously SHO ain't got it.

Thanks for making this vid, I had already seen it before, because I found it through youtube.

To everybody that is expecting SHO to be SH6, you're not going to like it. If you're expecting SHO to be something new, you'll be interested.

Things from vid that I like about SHO:

The music
The chatbox, the ability to use chat is going to be fun and very usefull.

Something that I didn't like:

Not having a 360 degree bridge view, only being able to view through the uzo. I don't think it's necessary but it would be a very nice addition.

In general I did like the interface and I'm hoping for the best for SHO.

I like the idea of being able to command multiple u-boats and play BdU, and I might play this when I'm not feeling up to a sim like SH5. But to be honest, the UI seems a bit cluttered.

...it would be great for Android - on the go!

maybe people who find this and know nothing of the sims will 'graduate' to the more in-depth version of SH3-4-5.

I don't think i'll be taking it seriously though. what I cant understand is why ubisoft invest so much in this development when they could have spared some change to finish off SH5?

oh well, at least it lives on in this arcade style attack-shooter type thing.

im looking forward to giving it a go.

It seems too much arcade (my opinion. I like the maximum of realism)
- Calculate intercept course.........yes Sir
- Point the enemy....yes SIr
- Shoot.....yes Sir
- Finish ???

Ok, it's another type of game but I prefer to returm to my old map, ruler, pencil, AOBF, manual TDC, walking through submarine, attack periscope, use the hydrophone etc etc etc

I think that this game is not suitable for the great majority of us.
