I just noticed, Octopussy was also The Man With the Golden Gun's lover.

That was a blatant reuse of the actress that was never explain in the movie.

He was going to, but then she:

Yes, I've read the book a dozen times since 1964, and I've seen the movie twice. That incident is allegedly why he treats women so casually. The comment was that Tracy was the only one who actually manage to land him. I like Vesper too, and Casino Royale is probably my favorite of all the books.
