Kiwi, have you ever been present during a Maori Farewell Ceremony? A Haka I believe its called. Just saw that ceremony video for their fallen comrades. Pretty emotional thing to watch.

If those guys would take on the Taliban in hand to hand combat, there wouldn't be enough left of the Taliban to bury! They would rip those clowns to shreds!

Yes i have, The Maori soldiers during WW2 were a fearless bunch. Sometimes they're a bit on the crazy side when it comes to war, Maoris like to fight its in our blood. During WW2 in one battle in Crete, while fighting the Germans the Maori battalion stopped firing stood up and performed the haka (war dance) not a shot was fired back at them the Germans were probably wondering what the hell was going on.

During the Maori v British war in New Zealand 1800's if the battle lasted a few days the Maori would hold a truce half way through then send over some warriors with food to give to the British soldiers as it is not good mana to fight an enemy who is at a disadvantage (hungry). And that's why we lost the war.

One day a Taliban commander was walking in the desert with one million, one thousand and one hundred of his best troops. A voice called out "one Aussie is better than 100 Taliban!" the commander sent 100 men after the voice. There was some gunfire, then "one Aussie is better than 1000 Taliban!" the Taliban commander sent 1000 men after the voice. Again some gunfire, the "one Aussie is better than 10000000 Taliban troops!" the commander sent 10000000 Taliban after the voice. Again some gunfire, but this time one survivor came back, and said:
Option 1: " it's a trap! There's two of them!"
Option 2: " it's a trap! It's a new zealander!"

May these soldiers rest in peace.

Sounds like the Aussies got a little POed the other day when 3 of their soldiers were killed by someone posing as an Afghan soldier.

"The shooting dead of three Australian troops by an Afghan army sergeant in the south last week prompted a deadly raid to find the rogue soldier, causing a war of words between Canberra and Kabul."

Hope they got the bastid!

I wonder if the Kiwis are easier targets because they maybe lack IED "proof" vehicles? I know that the US,UK,Germans and French and Aussies have plenty of good vehicles that protect the crews from blasts.Maybe the Kiwis lack these and therefore are an easy target for IEDs.

The US IED absorbing vehicles cost about 1 million to 1.4 million a piece though.

The Taliban like to use the tactic of dressing as or paying off a Afghan cop or solider(money goes to his family) because that is an easy way to attack NATO troops and it makes the NATO troops less likely to trust Afghans in general which plays into the hands of the Taliban. It is insurgency/counterinsurgency warfare nasty stuff.

NZ uses the same small arms as the Aussises right so they should be equal to an Australian unit in firepower. The ANZAC SASR needs to go crack some heads my dad worked with those guys in Vietnam sometimes they where very tough back then.

We're not actually NATO. We're UN.
I know, all these initials are confusing!

They are part of the ISAF International Security Force which includes members of NATO and Nations like Australasia,France and New Zeland. Some kiwi troops are part of a UN program though UNAMA.

Are you sure you know what your countrymen are doing in Afghanistan?

As far as I am aware they are not there as peace keepers same goes for Australasia. The ISAF is not a UN action.

I said NATO because it is easier although ISAF would be a more correct term.
