There's no router involved, as far as I'm aware. I'm in my university dorm and all I have to do is plug an ethernet cable into the wall

I can connect to other games just fine. SHIII multiplayer has never worked

Check this out, it may help you configure the correct port.

Also ask your university if they are using a router.

Unless yours is the only Internet connected computer at school, you're usin some form of a router.
