Open up your \My Documents\SH5\data\cfg\main.cfg. Make this section look EXACTLY like this:

[DEVELOPING]
Modding=Yes
MenuEditor=Yes
DebugScripts=Yes

Fire up the game. Go to game options. Select windowed mode. Save changes and exit game.

Now fire up the game again. Go into your career and begin mission. When you notice this strange unit behavior right click on the window bar at the top and select AI editor

I know this because I've literally taken this game apart piece by piece, dll by dll.

I've seen weird DDs too when I was ending a patrol there were some British DDs and they were weirdly going around in circles but when they were doing that THEY KEPT COURSE WITH ME they were spinning in circles close nearby but they would stop briefly and keep course with me then spinning in circles again.

i have seen that too but its a little different situation because in that case they are in attack mode, they had a ghost image of you and thought they were depth charging a sub

The ones that annoyed me didn't do that they just spun in circles from SW England up to NW of Scapa.

I think that when they are spinning in circles - they are just trying to hold range and bearing, but are set at a higher speed than you are travelling.
