I just got a new pc, Windows 7 Professional. I installed the 4 GB patch, the game runs fine. Installed Conus WS with JSGME and nothing happens. I installed GWX DFa Flag and Pens 2010 first and it was working. Nothing is breaking the WS mod though cause I removed all mods except that. Anyone have this problem?

I have downloaded several. The one I use is by Kegetys. I can run it up to 1440 x 900. I have read that you can go higher, but no setting above that works for me. I don't know if it's my graphics card or the monitor. But it is a sight better than the default SH3 narrow screen.
Note that I did have to go into the d3d9.cfg file and manually set the resolution BEFORE I used JSGME. And I had to do this several times until I found the resolutions that worked with my hardware. Several do work; several do not. Again, as to why I have no idea. Kegetys also allows you to set the location for screenshots, which work with the PrtScn key. But only TGA files. |

I forgot! Actually, the mod I use to improve resolution IS NOT installed with JSGME. I simply copied d3d9.cfg and d3d9.dll into the main Silent Hunter 3 directory. JSGME works through "data" and its subdirectories.

![]() Re: the OP, I'm using Conus' WS mod with Win7 and it's fine. If *nothing* is happening, meaning you see no change at all to the resolution or GUI after enabling it, you might want to double-check that the folder structure of the mod as copied into your MODS folder is correct. If it's not, JSGME doesn't copy the files into the right places in your game directory. ![]() |

The res fix I am using I found here: http://www.lsh3.com/v5/tools_en.html
But there are several. I have at least three different ones. This one works best for me, but every set up is different. And thanks, Frau Kaleun, for the info on JSGME. I have been away from SH3 for several years. I only yesterday discovered my old depository for SH3 mods. Some of them are five years old! I had actually given away my copy when I bought SH5. SH3 stopped running when I loaded Win7. A mistake. SH5 looks great, but the game play and interface was disappointing. So I bought the Steam version of SH3 for $10, started looking through the threads to see why Win7 killed SH3, and have since been rediscovering the wonders of SH3 and the myriad mods available. |

AFAIK, Conus's WS patch is only meant to run at 1360x768. If your monitor's native resolution is higher, it should just rescale it to fit the entire screen.
Edit: Also, 1440x900 isn't a 16:9 aspect ratio, it's 16x10. You might want to take a look at the original release thread for the mod as there is some discussion there about different ratios/resolutions and the problems that can come up. http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/show...nus+widescreen Last edited by frau kaleun; 12-16-11 at 02:33 PM. |

OK more weirdness.... I just copied and pasted the d3d9 files into the main folder and now it's working. They were both outside the Data folder..maybe I have a defective JSGME? Anyway...everything is back to normal. Thanks guys, appreciate the help!

First, JSGME wouldn't load the d3d9 files, then later SH3 Commander couldn't find the SH3 exe. file. I then directed it to the right location, but it couldn't see it! Wouldn't install. I then got the bright idea (from somebody else) to run the compatibility XP mode thingy and they seem to be working fine now. If it wasn't for Subsim I would never get this game going
