I never do an 'automatic'. I lay my own waypoints, take my time and enjoy the view. Which is not to say I do it in real time. I usually run at 128x.

This, I zoom in and try to stay dead center.

It is a habit I picked up from SH4 and always running aground on tiny islands and all the shallow mess on them infernal volcanic produced islands.

I skip over the canal completely. A few days longer to get to sea? Oh well.

I was going to explain the 'automatic waypoint' from GWX then realised you use NYGM.....manual inputs whilst zoomed in is possibly your only option.

I try not to use Kiel, and if I do I don't use the canal. I think I've used it a handful of times but always regret it.

Wilhelmshaven FTW.

With the "Start at Sea" mod enabled, using the GWX automatic route for the Kiel Canal runs me aground and destroys my boat everyime.

I always plot the course manually, regardless of what I am, and right now I'm in the red sea ... towards the Indian Ocean,

Could you explain, and possibly point out where that function lives, that i might use it to my own nefarious ends?

In GWX you click on the navigator at bottom left of screen and a number of options appear, eg Kiel In and Kiel Out.

The above was scripted into the mod using Mission Editor.

Based on my experiences using those two buttons, I think they should be renamed to 'Smash boat into rocks' and 'Let your grandmother drive'.

I always do it manually.
