Better ship damage

I was just wondering - when you make your ship halves, do you use the bulkheads that are placed over the broken end? They are not visible from all angles under wings3d though - here is a stern picture.

If you are not using something like this, the hull could be transparent if you looked at it from the untextured interior - I have had the same problem with open superstructure parts.

Or I could be completely wrong.
