haha, thanks everyone! yea i figured out the inside wasnt waterproof on one of my first outings on sh3...getting stuck with 4 destroyers close to Pas-de-Calai isnt very fun, and depth charges don'y help keep the water out, lol

Welcome Aboard!

I don't think you can control engines like that in SH3. I believe it was looked into early on whne the game was released, but it is hard coded.

Welcome to the family

So far there aren't any mods that allow you to have complete control over your engines. Will need to use the external cam and see, such as a knuckle turn where you would (irl) run one prop flank and the other one full reverse to help you turn faster, I don't think the game does that for you. Think it just puts the rudders to max port/starboard with both engines moving synchronized.

And that is something that wasn't done in real life either, as by the time an order could be transferred to the engine room and one engine clutched into reverse you would already be turning the other way. Reversing engines is only used in port, where extremely tight maneuvering can be planned in advance.

Welcome aboard

I'd like more control over engines, like running electrics on the surface...

And that is something that definitely was done in real life. When maneuvering in port and when running decks awash.
