Just a name I used for a career in SH3.

According to babelfish, it is German.

Thank you sir, though I did meet my apprehensions, it appears my word bending created a noose.

Enjoy poetry, writing, so based on that I decided to have a bit of fun when choosing a name here.

I didn't think about my name too much. I only joined this community to ask some questions about SH3 and resolve some technical issues. Next thing I know I'm attending subsim meets and restoration projects. I think Neal puts subliminal messages in the in the pics on the main page or something. If I'd known I was going to be around this long, I'd have chosen a way cooler name.

Undersealcpl (Undersea Lance Corporal) is just a variation on an old Marine joke about the versatility of Lance Corporals. The Corps loves to complain about how it is underfunded and how the other services get all the fancy gear. There's some validity to the complaints, as we often find ourselves using field-expedient measures to perform jobs that other services have specialized and functional equipment for.

By field-expedient, I mean using a ridiculous number of the most common enlisted rank (Lance Corporals) to perform a task that would otherwise be accomplished by heavy machinery or tech: If comms are down, you use runner lance corporals to relay messages rather than radios or sat-comms. If the truck or LAV or whatever is broken, you use pusher lance corporals to move it rather than an armored recovery vehicle. And naturally, if you want to sink Allied shipping in the Atlantic, you would use an undersea- lance corporals.

It's really an inside joke, and not the best choice for a screen name, but again, I didn't think I'd be using it much. I've been meaning to change it to just "Lance" or something equally less bothersome to type, but I've never gotten around to it.

I started as a car nut, and I always will be,no matter where I am.
My favorite car has always been the Ford GT40, which, as most of us know, ran a Ford 427 engine (actually, it was a mercury engine but thats splitting hairs)
But one of the terms used in racing, and elsewhere, is "fixing the problem with a sledgehammer."
I also spent a lot of time breaking rocks (not in prison, but at the farm in Illinois) and my weapon of choice was a sledgehammer.
so itall kinda fits together

Sledgehammer427
or
SH427
I don't know where people got Shammer, but I'll accept it.

Ha! Good to know that your last name is Beton indeed.
Beton translated into German means "Beton".

I will call you "Beton" from now on.

Dan D: Daniel is my given name. Back when I joined you had "Ice T, "Mel C" and the like as artist (dj) names. First A, Dan C, then B came to my mind but Dan D sounded better, more like a poser. Kickin it Old School !

My evil twin is "Ran D", the horny hamster, if you did not know yet.

I wonder how Mr. Stevens came up with his handle. It's awfully cryptic.

Niki was my first pooch. Bee= bostson (terrier) Mc= irish influence in Boston. Now if the Scots had settled in Boston, it would be NikiMacBee, and that's just weird. Plus the kilt thingy.

I have debated changing my username to the senior statesman of the house Rocky.

No need. I was having a joke at myself, since I usually point out all the other threads already started. But they are usually within a couple of days or weeks, not three years.

I think this one's fine as it is.
