Unfortunate that they didn't find her alive, on the brighter side at least they recovered the body.

Sorry to hear it.

(It's times like this we really need a more serious salute smiley. The grin just doesn't fit sometimes.)

The sailor has been ID'd.

OS2 (SW) Dominique D. Cruz, U.S. Navy

She was a 26-year old Operations Specialist from Panama City, Florida. Enlisted in the USN in June of 2006 and already made E-5. Looked like she had a promising career ahead of her; probably and easily could've made Chief.

Too young... Too young...

Man...

At least they were able to find her, though. The family can have some closure that way.

Actually you can make E-5 in a minimum of 3 years if you pass your E-4 and E-5 test first time up. Advancement through the lower rates is quick until you reach E-5 then it slows way down. Still, of all ways to go that would have to be the worst I'd say.

Oh yeah, I forgot; the Navy's changed. People are making Chief in nine years now; back in the day it took almost twice that amount of time.

I feel you, man. Out there all alone, couldn't imagine what was going through her mind out there.
