Default Thalia @ Cadiz

I've used the Bessel in Vigo and the Corrientes in the Canaries, but havce yet to use The Thalia yet for a resupply stop.

How is the RAF modeled around there? Is it thick? (sept '40), do they AI planes respect the neutrality of the the place or do they attack regardless? I only ask cause it's so close the the straights.

No , RAF don't attack in Cadiz. It is safe to use it. I have done it several times.

Ciao Gargamel,

I haven't been to Cadiz in a long time, but as I recall, you won't have to worry about enemy ships lurking outside the port. You might run into them if your course takes you closer to Gibraltar. Aircraft are another matter; my experience is that they will attack even if you're in a neutral port -- that happened to me in another port, but w/o a supply ship. I don't know if GWX is designed so the supply ship's presence prevents air attacks (otherwise, wouldn't they sink the Thalia?)

Gute Jagd,
Wayne

Thalia is nice and quiet, docked there a few times and had no trouble with the RAF.

The British are pretty respective of neutral ports, have never had a problem with Thalia. Have limped there a few times after a particularly brutal beating in Gibraltor. While I would never dock at the (Spanish) port that is opposite of Gibraltor, I have cruised my boat into there if I need to do major repairs. Getting out is tricky as the British are lying in wait but won't attack until you leave the harbor area.

When you're sailing West of (and somewhat near to the coast) of Ireland and Spain you'll frequently get spottings of aircraft. As you get your flak gunner ready once you finally get a good look at the plane it's an Irish/Spanish one and better hope you didn't shoot it down before you could see its markings. Specially when you get to the Southern portion of Spain and you get aircraft spotting they're usually British but can still be Spanish ones. Its always a relief once you id them, until then you can be in full AA/Damage Control Mode expecting the worst.

Not exactly.... more like there's nothing scripted to fly over the area.

My crew murmurs threateningly if I choose Corrientes over Thalia.

When I try to dock at Thalia in Cadiz, early 1940, it is not only impossible but the Spanish navy attacks me as well. I thought we were friends! What am I doing wrong?

Have you sank any neutrals in the previous 24 hours?

If you sink a neutral you start a personal war with its nation of origin that will last 24 hours of game time. They don't declare war on Germany, but they do declare war on *you* and they will attack you on sight.
