Yeah... my 4870x2 went to 115 degree before shutting down the system...

Problem is, once it's been running that hot, the thermal paste turns into something almost like concrete = totally useless.
And it ruins the fan - if it wasn't broken before...


May I recommend Arctic cooling fans? Very efficient and relatively cheap...

My present 5970 is cooled by Arctic and it hasn't seen a temp above 55 degree yet... http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=174638
