Truthfully. Profiling and questioning would be more effective, both as a deterent and a point defense than this BS. Frankfurt - Main does it.

The Israelis are probably the best in the world with those techniques....it has worked pretty well for them.

This is like metal detectors in schools (another idiotic over reaction).

Someone is about to board a plane with a bomb. If the bomb is detected... they blow it up. If they are detected... they blow it up.

Oddly, they are encouraging carry on baggage instead of checked. Why not vastly limit carry-on bags, and scan those, and have huge restrictions (nothing bigger than a large purse or small laptop case) on what can be aboard.

Check everything else, and scan the crap out of it, AND run it past a sniffer.

That combined with locked cockpits eliminates almost all threats.
