(Story) The grey Wolf

I had been hooked on u-boats since hearing tales of the heroes of the deep during the Great War. As soon as I was old enough, I joined the Navy. Unfortunately by then Germany had lost the war, and the U-boat service had been disbanded. I was shattered. Not only was my country which I was so proud of defeated, I couldn't join the service I had longed to join for so long. But I decided to stay. The inter war period just made me angrier. Useless politicians who's only goal was to make them self richer and more powerful ruled, while the population starved. And the peace agreement made our armed forces weak. Why shouldn't we be allowed to be strong? Why couldn't we have a navy like the British had? I was so angry. Angry and hurt. My nation was a shadow of it's former self, living on the scraps others threw to us like a beggar on the street. So when I heard of Hitler, I embraced his ideals. I thought he would bring us a strong Germany again. Not only was he a veteran of the Great War, but he was so young! And he wasn't a nobleman or captain of industry like those other fat pigs. He made us believe that any man could do anything. How young and stupid we were, how foolish to fall for his promises. It just goes to show how dangerous the wrong man at the right time with the right words can be. I joined the party as soon as I could, and when he came to power I was sure our dark days were over. Little did I know that the sun hadn't even started setting yet.
