OK but in campaign mode 3rd, 6th, 9th and 14th Flotillas are missing.

Again, SH3Cmdr reflects what is in your installation of SH3. No 3, 6, 9, 14 Flotillas in your copy of SH3? Mod them in...then SH3Cmdr will happily "see" them and present them as options for you to choose from.

Gosh! I thought GWX3 had already added lacking U-boat flotillas...

Compared to stock SH3, it did. There's even an optional mod that adds 3 Flotilla (for the Das Boot crowd). But SH3 limits Flotillas to eight. I got around that in GWX by combining multiple flotillas into a single slot, but one can only push it so far, keeping in mind gameplay and other considerations - like how limiting it would be to have multiple Flotillas sailing out of the same port at the same times to the same hunting grounds (FYI the Flotillas chosen for GWX provide the greatest variety to the player, taking them to all parts of the globe that real U-boats went, not just St Nazaire
![]() Fortunately, if you aren't happy with the Flotillas on offer, you can replace them with whatever ones you want. There's plenty of posts explaining how to do so in the forum archives. ![]() |

I am not naval historian but if amount of flotillas in SH3 is limited to eight I think actual selection is right. Quick research and here you are historical data.
U-boat combat flotillas 1941-45: 1. Atlantic Ocean: a. France: - 1 Flotilla: 6.1941-8.1944 Brest - VIIB/C/D - 2 Flotilla: 7.1941-8.1944 Lorient - IXB/C - 3 Flotilla: 10.1941-10.1944 La Pallice/La Rochelle - VIIB/C - 6 Flotilla: 2.1942-8.1944 St. Nazare - VIIB/C - 7 Flotilla: 9.1940-9.1944 St. Nazaire - VIIB/C - 9 Flotilla: 3.1942-9.1944 Brest - VIIC/D - 10 Flotilla: 1.1942-8.1944 Lorient - IXC - 12 Flotilla: 1.1943-8.1944 Bordeaux - IXD b. Norway: - 11 Flotilla: 5.1942-5.1945 Bergen - VIIC - 13 Flotilla: 7.1943-9.1945 Trondheim - VIIC -> mainly being 7 Flotilla escaped from France - 14 Flotilla: 12.1944-9.1945 Narvik - VIIC c. Germany: - 33 Flotilla: 9.1944-9.1945 Flensburg - remaining VIIC, IXC/D U-boats from France 3. Mediterranean: - 23 Flotilla: 9.1941-5.1942 Salamis - VIIB/C -> later merged with 29th Flotilla - 29 Flotilla: 12.1941- 9.1944 La Spezia/Tulon - VIIB/C 4. Black Sea: - 30 Flotilla: 10.1941-9.1944 Costanza - IIB 5. Indian Ocean: - "Monsun" Group: 8.1943-9.1945 Penang - IXC/D My comment - So lacking flotillas are less important because: - 3rd, 6th and 9th Flotillas were simply another three of five Type VII equipped flotillas based in France so nothing new would be introduced here aside of some mess because they were partially stationed in the same ports (Brest, St. Nazaire). - 7th Flotilla is replaced in mid-1944 by 13th Flotilla operating from Norway which is not entirety true because 13th Flotilla was founded in 1943. - 14th Flotilla was very small eight U-boat strong force formed in Norway on December, 1944 - not very important flotilla at all. - 23th Flotilla is merged with 29th Flotilla as it was in real life except first half of 1942. - "Monsun" Group is recreated by 10th Flotilla but as I correctly recall almost equal number of U-boats sent to the Indian Ocean came from 12th Flotilla Last edited by Gorshkov; 06-29-10 at 07:45 AM. |

Hi, I tried importing a text file according to instructions (used the official xls-spread sheet, saved it as a csv.file, started a new carreer and tried to import the text file under "Review Patrol logs") but it doesn't work (Message: "0 if 100 files imported"). Can anyone help me, please. Thanks!

Extract from post 73:
There's really nothing SH3Cmdr can do about this; sure, I could trap the error, then look at the Log_0.cfg file and get the correct career start date from it, but that doesn't fix up the missing renown or ship sunk data that are also symptoms of this bug. And TBH I have no intention of writing another 100 lines of code to correct another stock SH3 bug (there's enough lines like that in there already, LOL!), especially when there is a well known and advertised way to avoid the problem in the first place. And that is? Don't upgrade your boat before you start your first patrol in a new career. Alternatively, if you feel you must do so, then save just before docking at the end of the patrol. If you do then get the bug, it seems that re-loading the save game and re-docking fixes it. In summary, if you receive an "Invalid argument to date encode" error when attempting to create a Personnel File in SH3Cmdr it will be because of this bug. You can confirm for yourself by opening Patrols.cfg and checking the StartYear, StartMonth and StartDay values under [PATROLS 000]. If they are all 0, then you have caught the bug. You'll also notice 0 ships sunk, 0 tonnage sunk and 0 renown received, and a few others that I've forgotten now. Unfortunately this is just one of those stock bugs that is not practical to work around in SH3Cmdr. |
