From my point of view, it's better to build mods using a solid game as a start, not something that need countless of amateur patches to bring it to a certain level. Not to mention that applying layer over layers of amateur mods and fix undermines the modders ability to deliver a solid product because you're not starting from a common accepted base. The risk of a certain mod not working or being dependant on someone else's work becomes too great. It' simply not worth the effort. As far as I can see it, it's probably easier to bring SH5 innovations to SH4/SH3 rather than bringing SH5 to SH3/4 level. Oh, BTW, I think in SH5 the merchant ship tonnage is messed up. Many ships whose displacement should be larger than 7000t are capped to 7600t. Add another 'oh, crap' to the list!
