Once the mission briefing has finished you need to click and select the objective on the map. From there you get a option to request mission.
I had problems understanding this as well.... there should be some note in the end of the briefing telling people to select the objective they want. |

Oh ok...so what happens now since I left on my Patrol without selecting it?
Can I still do it away from base? |

I think you would have to return to the pens, go through all the briefing and select one of the German cross's icon and "Request Mission"
Am I right in thinking that if you don't select a objection/Mission you can just patrol anywhere and won't be penalised and the ships sunk still count to your overall tonnage ? Just that, sometimes I feel like just exploring away from the mission? |

Hmm.. I hope that I do not have to return to base... would make sense if I can just accept it via radio transmission?...

If you don't select a mission, each time you radio in they'll send you a message back "Continue the good work, patrol an area of your choice or return to base"
Did it once myself before I found out you had to actively select the mission in the briefing screen. |
