Question on Missions

Hello

I spoke to the officer in the bunker, this is for my first partol by the way, and he gave me a briefing to go to the east coast of the UK and sink merchant shipping there.

However after I finished the briefing, when I select start patrol, it says are you sure you want to start the patrol without a mission or something to that effect.

I continued on my merry way anyway, and when I contact Bdu via radio they say that I can return to base or keep on patrolling.

I have gone to the mission marker on the map, and haveing a miserable time sinking anything as I keep missing...but that is another story.

So, I managed to sink on merchant... but what do I need to do to accept the mission order? Or is this the normal way it goes? I have to sink 50000 tons before a certain date.. but if I haven't accepted the mission will the tally count?

Thanks for clarifying.

Once the mission briefing has finished you need to click and select the objective on the map. From there you get a option to request mission.

I had problems understanding this as well.... there should be some note in the end of the briefing telling people to select the objective they want.

Oh ok...so what happens now since I left on my Patrol without selecting it?

Can I still do it away from base?

I think you would have to return to the pens, go through all the briefing and select one of the German cross's icon and "Request Mission"

Am I right in thinking that if you don't select a objection/Mission you can just patrol anywhere and won't be penalised and the ships sunk still count to your overall tonnage ?

Just that, sometimes I feel like just exploring away from the mission?

Hmm.. I hope that I do not have to return to base... would make sense if I can just accept it via radio transmission?...

If you don't select a mission, each time you radio in they'll send you a message back "Continue the good work, patrol an area of your choice or return to base"

Did it once myself before I found out you had to actively select the mission in the briefing screen.
