In the sub pen about halfway down is a guard without a rifle,
he is bent over the rail looking at something, then looks around worried, then looks back down. I wonder if he had dropped his rifle in the water ?

not " he threw it into the water " ![]()

Englishmen and the french have been haggling for centuries, but I really cant understand why americans make fun of the french. I mean, France made not so small an effort agains the english during the american revolution and played a part in the american winning. Yet, americans look down on them. Am I wrong?

So, basically, it's a few accidents of fate that caused Americans to develop a stereotype. Besides, if you ask most Americans what the French had to do with the American Revolution, you'll get blank looks. People don't know their history. That has a lot to do with the current anti-French attitude, but it didn't really start then. It's been going on for a while.

As for the french in the american revolution.. they weren't too keen to help out until they saw that we could win it.
Naturally anyone that would stick it to the english, the french wanted to be apart of... but they wanted to make sure it was going to be favorable first. |

So, I'm confused... the American revolution is a mini game you can play as an Easter egg in SH5 to run the blockade? This is the Easter Egg thread after all
![]() Oh and by the way, when one is referring to a country or nationality, one should always start the word with a capital letter, as in 'German', 'Germany', 'America', 'Spanish' etcetera. To do otherwise would show great disrespect. I learnt this valuable lesson from the french.

Politics aside, when I was in Belgium there the people told me that
they invented the deep-fried potatostrips - later they french made it their own. If you ask me, the french tipped the balance during the american revolution and in a way gave the struggling colonists of america hope when they faced the tough redshirts - here I primary thing of french fleet units who kept the english at bay (not going into details here but there was also french regular line regiments). They whole thing later backfired when France, having gotten a bad peaceresolution and broke by constant war with Britain, got the taste of freedom from USA and revolted. When I think of France I think of: nice baguettes, nice women, nice sauces, arrogant and cocky people (perhaps because they used to be an empire?) and funny dished (snails, cowtounge wrapped in its headskin, brain, froglegs etc but Im sure its better than fastfood?!?). ww1 would have been dragging on for much longer, had USA not entered but you must remember that the germans also were at a breakingpoint - having fought for many years and millions of dead soldiers (the death of a generation). ww2 France was cought of guard by the rapidly expanding military machine, german broke the ww1 resolution and it was accepted (the allies tried the approach to trust Hitler, bad move as it seemed) and had it not been for USA - perhaps we would all be speaking german today (russia is a wildcard though). Yes, the french lost in indo-china - but so did USA in Vietnam some years later. UN fought in Korea and it could have gotten very bloody but Russia kept the Chinese partly at bay (North korea was ultimately left on its own by the communist regimes). Read about General MacArthur, he became an american hero for sure after the Phillipines in ww2, but he later wanted to nuke and attack China etc, not even listening to President Truman and he was force to resign. Long story short: americans can also be arrogant, not just the french. Sorry for the of topic folks - Im just feeling social today. Im just a swede with interest in history. By the way, not all our girls here are called Inga or are blond ![]() Comments are welcome, everything kan be researched online. |
