all 9000 series nvidia cards are 8000 series with a new name (and usually more ram) so your 9800gt and my 8800gt are exactly the same cards which means we are both SOL for sh5

Not quite, the 9800 & 8800 GT's are pretty much the same, but the 9600GT is way better than the 8600GT.
In fact the 9600GT isnt far off from the 88/9800GT at all

I have the following spec.

EVGA nforce 790i Ultra mother board.
Intel Duelcore E8500 3.16 GHz cpu.
Geforce 9800 GX2 PCI express 1GB video card. 2 cards with SLI configuration.
4GB of ram
Window XP Professional 32 bit.

I have the optional of upgrading to Vista or Win 7 professional.

Will upgrading the operating system have a big impact on the spec I need to run SH5.

I though I would check with other members here.

I doubt it, though running the game in DX10 might give a little performance boost.

Going to 64 bit would make a little more RAM available; not all of the 4GB you have now is actually accesible under a 32 bit OS. I think you'll see more gain from going to 64 bit than switching to Win7.

Yes, I have heard about the 32 bit not recognizing all the ram. My XP only recognizes 3Gb out of 4GB.
I know very little about 64 bit. I wonder if SH3 and SH4 would run under Windows 7. I have seen other members having problems with Windows 7 and running Sh3. So, would Sh5 run with Window 7.

Webster said you are SOL on with the 9800. I do not believe so. I have a 9800 and I'm not worried at all. Specifically because I play other very graphic intense games without issue.
