SH 5 Specs

I saw the specs posted. Pretty much what we thought.

Silent Hunter 5System Requirements* Intel Processor-Core 2 Duo E6850 3.0GHz AMD Processor-Opteron Dual core 270 Nvidia Graphics Card-Geforce 8800 GTS 512MB ATI Graphics Card-Radeon HD 4850 RAM Memory-2 GB Hard Disk Space-5 GB Direct X-9

Webster 01-25-10 02:13 PM

according to that they upped the video specs from the 512mb 8800 gt and 4770 cards they originally mentioned we would need

Snestorm 01-25-10 02:26 PM

Too expensive.

John Channing 01-25-10 02:40 PM

No it's not.

Sailor Steve 01-25-10 02:42 PM

How weird - I already have all that, except for the graphics card. The problem there is that my system is old AGP, and those cards can be had, but not cheaply.

^^'Recomended' specs I assume.

Adriatico 01-25-10 02:51 PM

All the mentioned hardware will be out of date by the summer2010... so these are really soft requirements for a new generation of games...
Try to play Bad Company 2 on that...

Task Force 01-25-10 03:25 PM

Gaa... curse you 8800gts!!! lol... I hope the 300s come out soon so I can upgrade. lol:yep: (casue getting a 200 series now is a waist of money IMO...)

all 9000 series nvidia cards are 8000 series with a new name (and usually more ram) so your 9800gt and my 8800gt are exactly the same cards which means we are both SOL for sh5

I have a 9400 Quad-core 2.66ghz and 1 gig gts 250 video card running xp windows with 2 gig of ram

I think so, Dan said medium should be doable on 8800GT (iirc, correct me if I'm wrong). Seems like that changed to 8800GTS, but that's just 1 step up. Overclock a 8800/9800GT a little and you get the same performance. :yep:

GTS250 = 9800GTX = 1 step above 8800GTS 512
For what it's worth, I've got 8800GTS 512 and I'm not worried. ;)

*All the upcoming games, such as Mass Effect 2, the new AvP, Bioshock 2 and SC Conviction, have a 8800 as recommended. My guess is you'll get decent performance with that in SH5 as well, or Ubi would be shooting themselfs in the foot. They can't expect everyone to upgrade just to play SH5.

Not quite, the 9800 & 8800 GT's are pretty much the same, but the 9600GT is way better than the 8600GT.
In fact the 9600GT isnt far off from the 88/9800GT at all :)

capthelm 01-25-10 06:26 PM

i should be able to run it quite smooth.

E8400 stock at 3.0 Ghz
Nvidia 260GTX OC edition 896MB pci express x16
4 gig DDR2 corsair ram.
x2 21 inch flat screen monitors

winxp 32bit home edition.
:salute:

I have the following spec.

EVGA nforce 790i Ultra mother board.
Intel Duelcore E8500 3.16 GHz cpu.
Geforce 9800 GX2 PCI express 1GB video card. 2 cards with SLI configuration.
4GB of ram
Window XP Professional 32 bit.

I have the optional of upgrading to Vista or Win 7 professional.

Will upgrading the operating system have a big impact on the spec I need to run SH5.

I though I would check with other members here.
