Actor Danny Glover believes that the Haitian earthquake was caused by climate change and global warming

Excuse my ignorance but it seems fairly feasible that over the past 20 years or so the temperature of the earth has increased considerably due to global warming, couldn't this heat cause expansion of the earths surface thus causing the plates to shift? Not being an expert in this area but it does seem possible, obviously does to Danny!
