Epic thread

Q: What is the biggest step forward for SH game series contained in V?
A: We have been working 1 year on achievment system for steam release. There will be more than 100 of them.

Q: What achievments? SH V shouldnt be more realistic because current technology allows that?
A: Our market reseach said that 7-14 years old customers doesnt need it. But we increase ammount of torpedoes to 128 per sub.

Q: What do you think about subsim community and work of modders? Is SH better with mods, isn't it?
A: No! They ruined our game. We dont know now how to play in SH4 with TMO and manual targetting system.

This whole maskerade of "Dev Q&A" where your people at UBI make it a point to mainly pick the most mundane and quite possibly less important questions was bound to produce this reaction one day or another lol I guess the "will I be able to sit on the captain's bed" was the one mundane question too many

It may work on the UBI forum, I dunno, but the overall IQ of people at subsim is past too much for these marketing tricks to work here. Admit UBI does not allow you to really talk about your game, and that's it, we can understand, especially if it's not up to you!

With the "Is it possible to sit in the officer’s mess or "sleep" in my commander bunk?", I take it many people here felt as if it was insulting their intelligence, so to speak as it was a bit too much to cope with lol. I felt a little bit this way myself

Now for some of the other here, that shouldn't mean you could not complain whilst keeping a friendly "mocking" attitude towards devs, as I did for example on many previous posts about this, but not adopting an insulting tone. Though most of people here do so, thanksfully.

We're still almost blind as to what SHV's gonna be, so best not insulting devs who are trying to do their best and puts commitment into it, until proved otherwise.

But please, the next question answered would better not be: "Will I be able to jump or strafe while using 1st person view?"...

As kapitan_zur_see pointed out, it is imperative that all mockery is aimed at UBI and NOT THE DEVS. At the end of the day they are not in charge of the direction of SH5 or the unevolved arsology that UBI considers to be marketing.

The DEVS are just doing their job and hopefully they will structure SH5 in such a way as to make it much more open to modding. Hell they have to really else its gonna bomb bigtime.

LOL!

It's funny when considering the processes involved in a SH title. Usually it goes something like this:

Community: Where's our new Sim? Come on Dev, stop being slack!
Devs: Development has ceased on the SH genre.
Community: Ah go on!
Devs: Ok then.
Community: Where's the demo, info, screenshots, what included etc......
Devs: Here you go!
Community: Drool, the new SH is the leet! Nothing will ever be beteh!
Devs: Thanks, the community makes this worth while.
Community: Where's more stuff?
.
.
.
Community: Why is this like this, why have you added this, where is my realistic sim, where's the............
Devs:
Devs: SH5 is released, get it here!
Community: This is the biggest load of.............we've ever seen. We'll have to wait for modders to 'fix' it.
Devs: Sweet, so glad we did this.

I didn't want to start another topic, so here it's my question:
Will there be a dev diary ? If not then you will expect from me a little visit hehe

Yeah, we're only making fun of GKane and his pick of questions

Q: will we be able to use a mouse?
Q: will the camera move with you as you move through the sub?
Q: is there a save/load option in the game?
Q: will the allies win the war?
Q: will we have a Type VIIC modeled in the game?

When there are questions that really bug us every day. Back in autumn most answers were blowing us away.

Q: will the interior camera have a collision node this time?
A: you'll have a full FPS camera and be able to walk through the entire sub, interact with crew etc etc.

Now they're blowing us off.

Don't blame Gkane, we're a team here. Sometimes he picks the question, sometimes we pick them.

Sometimes we just can't answer some questions because the answer is not decided or is part of some "information plan" to be revealed later.

AT LAST, you admit it!
Now it's better, we can understand what was previously the obvious but was giving us the feeling that we were ignored and taken for mere 12 years old idiots that were going to celebrate because we were discovering we could probably sit on the captain's bunk.

I guess admiting that is certainly no part of the "information plan" lol so thanks for indulging us here. Now it's only honest.

You know what's really amusing is that there are people asking such dorky questions in the first place

We'll leave him alone if you show us a pic of the TDC interface

Edit: I don't think it will work, but hey, it was worth a shot.
