Okay, so there is no way to know precisely whether a compartment is running Minimal, Normal, or High efficiency? Just the green bar? I can make do with that; just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something since it's mentioned in the manual.

Yes, I can definitely tell when the efficiency drops below Minimal because they stop doing whatever they're supposed to be doing! I noticed the torpedo reload time just seems to scale with the green bar, getting faster the more green there is. I can't see any real differences with the other compartments, but I'm sure they're there - like the response time of the helm, accuracy of the radio team, etc., which I've read about. None of them are easy to measure, though, like torpedo reload time and the simple fact that the compartment is either doing its job or not.
