Here is my horror story
![]() Downloaded and installed the game just fine. Watched the opening trailer. Decided to create a charecter and was fussing with settings like hair color when the game locked up with strange green rectangles on the screen. No problem maybe just a glitch and I re-boot. Now my entire screen is covered with green rectangles. Not just the game but from bios boot onward. Deskt top... covered with green rectangles. The game killed my video card ![]()

Heh funny story about Oblivion for me too.
When I first got it I realized my old video card wasent gonna cut it. I went out and bought a new ati x1800 (new at the time). Installed it and wow what a difference smooth as butter. But wow that fan sure is noisy its spinnig for all its worth. Oh well Ill get used to it. So there I am sneaking around in another infernal tower lining up a shot on a dremora when there was a loud "SNAP" the screen goes blank and the smell of ozone fills the room. ![]() ![]() The fuse in the power supply had blown (a fuse actually worked for once). Duh.. the old power supply could not supply enough current and finally popped the fuse. No other damage. The fan was running its ass off due to the switching power supply trying to keep the voltage up while overloaded. New power supply and have been cruising along ever since. Till last night. ![]()

It is a bit silly to blame a game for hardware failure, but whatever rocks your boat.

Anyhow game runs find with the new card. I got about an hours worth of play in last night. Created charecter and got through the early scenes. Made a human female rouge for some reason only 'noble' was a selection. It is somewhat reminescent of NWN which is not a bad thing though I am still a bit lost in the interface, charecter sheet, leveling and all that is quite different. I havent even looked in the manual. BTW I named my mutt "Sputum" ![]()

The gems you find are the exact same ones from NWN. Topaz, malachite, etc.

Well, started off as an Dalish elf only to find it did not suit my playing stlye (too weak for my liking). So I've gone for a Dwarf Noble - aka combat monster (he got a nice double headed axe
![]() After a 2 hour marathon yesterday, have got near to where I was with my Elf - Ostogar (where you join the Grey Wardens. Still no crashes yet - this is the most stable game I have played in a long time. Good job Bioware ![]()

While the game itself is great, it is absurd that I must be logged in each and every time I intend to play the game with extra pre-order content, in other words, each time I want to load a saved-game with extra content. This is the first offline-online chimera game I've ever heard of. You must login, but what for? It's a singleplayer offline game isn't it?
Put under this light, the default, non-deluxe, non-pre-ordered simple version is a superior version of the game, for you can just fire it up and play, anytime, anywhere. And I, who payed more for these trinckets, on the contrary, am punished with an obligation to play only with an internet connection, as if this were an online game. There must be another way to do this special edition thing, less moronic, less cheapsteak, less punishing to the customer who goes the extra buck. Now I can only imagine what will happen if years from now I decide to play my Dragon Age deluxe edition, as I did again with Knights of the Old Republic a few weeks ago. Will my special content be available? Will the old game still be supported? Will Bioware's subscriber system still exist? I want to own the game, install and play it when I want as I see fit, not have to become a subscriber to an offline-online game, not become the hostage of an internet connection and a company's clubhouse. What happened to owning the damn game?! Many thumbs down to Bioware for implementing such a system. Yes, the game is great, but this system is retarded, it is like a good-looking whore with AIDS. ![]() ![]() ![]()

Things going well - 12 hrs in and still no crashes (yet). Finished the Urn quest - those 4 tasks were "fun", won't go further - don't want to spoil it
![]() The only bug I have found, is if you have the Blood dragon DLC (got mine with the game) and you play as a Dwarf Noble, once you get exiled, to my horror you lose the breastplate! Can't seem to get it anywhere not even from the party camp ![]()

That's a good name, my imagination failed me and I came up with Mako. Like that vehicle in Mass Effect, felt pretty badass shooting the place up in that.
Dowly, you running it on very high? Got to give that a try then, strangely I haven't yet. ![]() So do you get a dog with every background story? The first bit is supposed to be different depending on race and whether you're a noble or a commoner.
