I really would like to see terror in my crew faces while being depth charged.

After a long and hard patrol, I would like to see them with long beards, and dirty, and sweat.

Having my chief officer taking his cap off for some seconds to wipe the sweat out of his forehead is also very welcome.

Although I am a little leery of the RPG aspects of SH5, It would be nice that during a depth charge attack that the Kaluen could walk through the sub and have an effect on morale depending on the reputation of the Kaluen.

Excellent idea!

That's a problem with simulations, NPC are ofenly acting like robots.

There's a lot of improvement that can be done here.

this would be great

with respect to the "terror in my crew faces" im kinda thinking its one of those things they are better off NOT trying to do because it could look stupid and we might get some bug eyed looking crew if not done well when they tried to express that surprised, scared, or terrified look.

I agree, to some extent.

I think some kind of panic is better then a crew doing NOTHING while being depthcharged. Seems like they just don't care, bunch of robots.

Kills the immersion.

yep, maybe moving around quickly or frequent head movements but with the faces i have no confidence ubi will do them correctly for budget reasons and the details are so small scale.

it would be nice to see the crew move based on what you do like a fps so you walk up to them and they get out of your way thing.

lets not have the robot repeating motion thing i agree, to me i would rather them NOT move if all they are doing is to keep waving the hand like swatting at flies or something lol.

Some voices (screaming, humming, grudging) during very close depth charge explosions, when lights go off and glass breaks, bolts firing, etc. Cos having the crew play poker while a depth charge detonates 5 feet away is really not what Im looking for.

Like you said, running around, having trouble keeping themselves on their feet, maybe even sometimes falling down.

The faces can be done easily. Just to see them grabbing to something to hold themselves, grinding teeth, with somewhat worried faces is enough.

Just a couple things I thought of that may be rather mundane additions,
but one was Going To Red (internal lights) at sunset and the reverse at sunrise is automatic in SH3; personally I'd like to either do that manually (perhaps a switch close to the Echolot wall), or have an additional box selection from one of the officer icons or something which calls out the command and a crewman carries it out.
Also, there are a few tunes on the gramophone I wouldn't mind either turning down or up when the crew and I are vegging out in cruise mode. What about having the volume adjustable in some way? Someone mentioned a more involved process of receiving messages from the radioman, which would be cool too. Having him respond to a volume up or down on the gramophone shouldn't be too hard.

Too much immersion?

Good suggestion. I'd like to see manual "rig for red" as an option. The automatic "white-for-day-red-for-night" approach of SH3 is just too simplistic and doesn't accurately reflect real usage, however it does prolly suit the needs of many players.

Were it selected as an option by the user though, there'd need to be a penalty for not using it correctly, say temporarily impaired vision if you let your crew go topside without adequately adjusting first.

Would go hand-in-hand with the return of the sunrise/sunset, moonrise/moonset calendar.

Of course, later in the war red goggles largely replaced the red light, so it would be less of an issue.

I guess what your comment does lead to though are independant lights for each compartment - SH3 is all white or all red. Sleeping areas should always be dark, engine room white, control room red (when rigged that way) for example.
