I've given up on BF games ages ago because of the bots, hacking and cheaters. Its so lame that I bust my butt to get honest rewards and these guys are getting the easy deal.

![]() Which server do you play on with competent admins ? Maybe I need to try a different server. Also, what version are you running? I just upgraded with the patch 1.41 but it reads 1.129.65-797.0 in the top right of the main menu... ![]() Quote:
I always wonder about the ones I unload a full clip into and they'll kill me with one shot. Or the ones that always seem to know exactly where you are all the time.. Then there's the godamn bunny hoppers which I consider just as bad as cheaters.

Yes, I've noticed that in BF2, heck, in the BF series, the hit system always seemed to be a bit crooked, in 1942 it took several hits to take a man down, frustrating when you have a rifle and he has an MG, and in BF2 I've found myself in situations where I've emptied half a clip into a MEC soldier only to be 'incapacitated' in the next shot.
However, I've found this outcome to be slightly less obvious in modded games such as FH2 where weapon lethality is higher. If you spot a soldier and you put a rifle round into him at medium range and if it connects, there's a good chance that he will fall down. It's not foolproof though, any look at the FH2 video with wittering will remember the incident when Neil emptied a mag into a Jerry and then got blasted. Teamwork on the other hand, can be hard to find, but when it all comes together, such as the incident on FH2 when I spotted a Panther and guided our guys into whack it before it overran our base. Still, cheaters are a real pain in the arse... ![]() |

Neal, 1.5 is the newest patch.
![]() @Hunter Hehe, I remember a similar case, someone new in some clan posted a screenshot to the other clan members, not realising that it showed he was cheating. ![]() My advice for BF2 would be to find servers that are run abit more "professionally" i.e. gaming sites that host servers. For example, I play pretty much only at the Danish TV2 servers where hackers will be quickly reported to admins who then reports them forward and sooner than later the inviduals are enjoying an global ban. ![]() EDIT: Here's the vid I mention to Hunter: |

Sorry to hear about this Neal. Many times I've toyed with the idea of playing something online.
It's posts like this that keep me solo. Cheaters only cheat themselves. They'll never know if their really any good at the game. Neal... Let us know if that server thingy has better results. |

What annoys me the the most are the cheaters who do it to piss everyone else off. The ones that get a real kick out of wrecking things for everyone else around them. These guys are similar to team killers and the like.
As for the emptying a clip into someone and them not dying, it can happen often where the person wasn't cheating, but a lag spike on your or his side caused the game to miss report his position, so while you think you are shooting at him, as far as the server is concerned you are actually shooting air. Lag is always is very frustrating, especially when you do everything right and still fail just because of lag or a game glitch (particularly when playing a match that counts) Of course though this is the basis of the lag/invulnerability hacks. Like i said though I'm not a big fan of public gaming due to the general lack of team play, organization, etc, and all the stupidity, bad behavior and so on. After playing the team ladders for many years its very hard to go back to pubbing. This is probably why I generally haven't played any pub games in the last 6 years or so unless I'm with friends. |

Names that come to mind: BF ranked server #1 BF ranked server #2 Kifferstubchen Deutschland ... others One thing i dislike a lot is the servers with addictional rules (don't do that, don't do this, blah blah). No rules servers are the ones i personally prefer. Quote:

Aw terrible.. I recently started playing BF2 before the Subsim meet and really enjoyed it though I figured I just sucked and got killed a lot. Now I know the truth
![]() Why do people feel they have to cheat? I don't even cheat in off-line games, just no glory in it. |

Used to get a lot of grief on Medal of Honor Spearhead servers for 'hacking'.... hehe when you've played that game for as long as I have you get to know the maps and choke points etc. It's understandable when you kill the same guy in the same spot for the tenth time that he calls Haxor!!!
However, my clan at the time used to play in several leagues and tournaments and for a bunch of guys who were mostly over 30 it was quite a serious business. The servers we used to run were mostly free from hackers due to the almost constant presence of the admin with the almighty banhammer at his fingertips ![]() Plus the type of games we used to host - objective maps for the most part - didn't tend to attract kiddies looking for easy scores. It's a pity that Spearhead, as a gaming community, does not have the numbers it used to, so the servers are limited to freeze tag and heavily modded weapon damage gameplay. I've slowly gone over to Call of Duty 2, which had a horrifying reputation for cheaters when it first came out. There's some good realism servers out there and for the most part cheaters are easy to spot. It's a good game and the objective modes bring back some of the team spirit that made MOH SH such a joy to play. I blame EA and Medal of Honor Airborne for the death of the MOH franchise - that game had such potential; it looked great and had some beautiful maps, but they gave it a couple of rubbishy patches and a clunky control interface and refused to support the game any further after it had been released for a couple of months. Online gameplay was where that title could have excelled, but they released it stillborn: No developer kit or SDK mapping tools. Essentially I can sum it up as a console game ported over to the pc in order to make money. It was the last EA game I will ever buy. In that event it never lived long enough for anyone to hack it ![]() I have to laugh looking back on some of the cheaters arguing on our SH servers though, swearing that they didn't just wallhack or use an aimbot, or start 'land-sharking' when half a dozen guys who have played the game for 6+ years are watching them do it in spectator mode. Most of them were logged by the servers and their id's given over to the cheat police, to be distributed to many of the clan and league servers operating back then. I guess there's only a handful of COD2 servers that I play (badly) on: <82ndAB> WRM(B3) |Brothers|-RealismWRM(B3) =(E|S|R)=long range sniper only and occasionally {UN}Europe United Noobs!! (our clan used to get booted and banned from their Americas Army server for playing as a team and kicking them about the map - petty really) still a few cheaters on their COD2 servers though and it's a bit of a fragg-fest in all honesty, but fun when there's not too many players on. Perhaps it's because I'm a bit older, or more likely, because most of my clan mates have quit playing regularly. I just don't enjoy it as much as I used to - freelancing on most games like that doesn't have the same bite to it. Kind of like here at subsim; it feels all homey and familiar and you can always have a laugh or a chat with people you know. Lol all of these one night stands with random WW2 FPS game servers just don't cut it like a meaningful relationship with a game that gives as much as it takes ![]() ![]() I've always thought that online gaming communities and forums would be a good resource for anyone wishing to study group dynamics and social grouping, you can observe a microcosm of life on a more controlled scale, cheaters and all ![]()

If i see a commander taking up a vehicle, (denying the use to the faction), I also tend to vote to mutiny against him. But this doesn't mean there has to be an addictional rule to prevent this, the commander is (IMO) simply doing an error, nothing more nothing less. Once I've been kicked from a good server while commanding and winning with the reason "learn to be a commander" lol. But after all it was the morning after some excessive party so I said to myself: "OK, I see your point" ![]()
