If I ever get it finished, I am working on a mod to do this and more. Do you have any programming skills?

Actually damage in the ships due to heavy seas is modelled, since I remember the old problem of small ships getting destroyed and sunk during storms

Hmmm I'm not sure it was just that. I remember having seen a ship in heavy weather with a fire and smoke. it got not just flooding but also damage. But I could very well be wrong, or it could be an earlier version of the game...
You can make a quick test by setting huge waves with S3Ditor and setting up a mission with a small merchant ![]()

I was just reading "Depths of Courage" and it mentioned some accounts of the batteries getting damage in rough seas (in this case a U.S. fleet sub). It may be somewhat rare, yet it could result in hull/crew/propulsion damage effects let alone the risk of further toxic vapors in the sub.

In fact, I am currently reading "Torpedo Junction", and it has mentioned the Paukenschlag u-boats deployment to the U.S. east coast (we all about this one...). Anyhow, they had met a heap of hurricane-like rough seas so much as they approached in January '42, that they tried to travel submerged as much as they could.
Sure, submerge to conserve diesel... but more so, Hardegen and his other subs just tried to keep the boats from heaving so much on their way. |
